The Nurturing Future Leadership Programme under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme took center stage at IIT Madras from March 10th to 15th, 2024. This Leadership Development Programme, conducted under the aegis of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, set out to equip faculty members, particularly those in the nascent stages of their careers, with the essential skills and insights needed for leadership roles.
This initiative by IIT Madras wasn’t merely about transmitting knowledge; it was about cultivating a mindset primed for navigating the dynamic landscape of 21st-century academia. A standout feature of the programme’s implementation was the involvement of GDC, renowned for its expertise in guiding faculty members through a pivotal shift in perspective — transitioning from a research-oriented mindset to one tailored for successful commercialization. Drawing on its wealth of experience, GDC played a crucial role in shaping the curriculum, ensuring it transcended conventional leadership training to offer participants with a truly transformative experience.
The programme’s curriculum was thoughtfully crafted to provide participants with insights and experiences beyond the ordinary. Esteemed speakers, integral to establishing IIT Madras’s reputation for excellence, shared their wealth of practical knowledge, inspiring participants with personal anecdotes and real-world examples. Through an immersive learning approach, participants embarked on a five-day journey of self-discovery and professional growth, exploring a myriad of themes, from foundational leadership principles to the intricacies of innovation and change management in academia.
Drawing a diverse cohort of twenty-seven faculty members from Centrally Funded Institutions across India, the programme fostered a vibrant exchange of perspectives and experiences, enriching the discourse on leadership.
At the programme’s conclusion, participants were honored with certificates, symbolizing the culmination of their journey and achievements. Empowered with renewed determination, they set forth on their individual paths, armed with invaluable tools and insights essential for leadership characterized by foresight, integrity, and empathy.
